Abstract: Objectives To investigate the expression of cysteinyl leukotriene receptors 1 (CysLTR1) and 2 (CysLTR2) in the skin lesions of patients with subacute eczema and psoriasis. Methods The expression of CysLTR1 and CysLTR2 was assessed by streptavidin-peroxidase technique in the skin lesions of 10 cases of subacute eczema,20 cases of psoriasis vulgaris, and in normal surgical skin tissues at the corresponding sites of 10 healthy controls. Results CysLTR1 and CysLTR2 simultaneously existed in human skin, and were predominantly located in epidermis, sebaceous glands, hair follicles, sweat glands, smooth muscles and blood vessels. The expression of CysLTRl and CysLTR2 was significantly higher in the lesions of eczema and psoriasis than that in control skin (P<0.05).However there was no significant difference in the distribution or the intensity of the expression between the two subtypes of CysLTRs (P>0.05).Conclusions There are two subtypes of cysteinyl leukotriene receptors,CysLTRl and CysLTR2,coexisting in human skin. Both receptors are highly expressed in the lesional skin of patients with eczema and psoriasis in comparison with that in normal controls.
