Abstract: Objective To study the effeet of topical caleipotriol treatment on the expression ICAM-3 molecule in infiltrating leukoeyles of skin lesions of patients with psoriasis berore and after lrealmenl. Methods Expression of ICAM-3. Ki-67 and CD3 was studied in the skin biopsies from 20 palients with chronicn plaque type psoriasis before and after topeal ealeipotriol treatment by using an immnohistoehieal leehnique-Adin biotin Complex(ABC)System Results ICAM-3.Ki-67 and CD3 posilive slaining cells in the skin lesions were significanlly higher than those in uninvolved skin as well as those of normal controls.and there was a posilive conelation between the lesional expression of ICAM-3 and Ki-67 molecues, as well as between lesional expression of ICAM-3 and CD3 molecules. After six weeks of topieal applieation with eaeopotriol the expression of ICAM-3. Ki-67 and CD3 in involved skin were significant decreased(P<0.01).Conclusion It is indieated thai the.meehanism of topical tretment wiih caleipotriol in psoriasis involves not only only inbibiting keralinoeyte poliferation.but also effecting ICAM-3 infirating leukoeyvtes in lesional skin.which may be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
