Abstract: 【Abstract】 Periostin is highly expressed in keloids. Upon binding to membrane-bound integrins, it activates downstream signaling pathways, including the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/serine-threonine protein kinase pathway and the extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathway. The interaction regulates fibroblast proliferation, migration, and differentiation, while also promotes angiogenesis, thereby playing a crucial role in keloid formation. This review focuses on the role of periostin and its associated signaling pathways in keloid pathogenesis, aiming to provide novel insights into potential therapeutic strategies for this disease.
