Abstract: 【Abstract】 Syphilis is one of the major sexually transmitted diseases prevalent in China currently, and the number of reported cases of syphilis has always been at the forefront of those of the Class B notifiable infectious diseases. Significant achievements have been made in syphilis prevention and control since the implementation of the “National Programme for Prevention and Control of Syphilis in China (2010 - 2020)” in 2010. However, the incidence of latent syphilis has continued to rise and some other problems have emerged, indicating that the situation of syphilis prevention and control is still grim. In the future, innovative strategies should be explored in areas such as health education and intervention, screening and standardized treatment of latent syphilis, as well as management of sexual partners, in order to cope with the new situation of syphilis transmission.
