Abstract: Objective To explore the expression and significance of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),hypoxia inducible factor(HIF-1α)and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)in lesions of condyloma acuminatum(CA).Methods SP immunohistochemistry method was used to measure the expression of VEGF,HIF-1α and MMP-9 in 35 cases of CA and 15 normal skin controls. Results The positive rates ofVEGF,HIF-1αand MMP-9 were 100.00%(35/35),94.28%(33/35)and 100.00% (35/35)in CA tissues, while 100.00%(15/15),66.67%(10/15)and 86.67%(13/15)in the controls, and no significant difference was found in the positive rates of VEGF or MMP-9 between the two groups (both P>0.05).The expression intensity of VEGF,HIF-1α and MMP-9 was significantly increased in CA tissues than that in the controls(all P<0.01).The expression intensity of VEGF was positively correlated with that of HIF-1αand MMP-9(both P<0.01).Conclusions VEGF,HIF-1αand MMP-9 are over-expressed in CA tissues, and may play a role in promoting angiogenesis of CA.
