Abstract: Two sera, which recognize 230 000 BP antigen and 160 000 BP antigen respectively, were selected by Western blot.Twenty two skin pieces which were taken from different areas of cadavers were tested with the above sera by IIF.The results showed that there were regional variations on the expression of 230 000 antigen and 160 000 antigen. The concentration of 230 000 antigen was highest in the skin of upper chest, abdomen and the flexor aspect of thigh, and lowest in the scalp and planta. The concentration of 160 000 antigen was highest in the skin of upper chest and the abdomen, and lowest in the scalp and neck. There was hardly any difference on the same area between the two antigenic expression, but 230 000 antigen was markedly expressed than 160 000 antigen in several areas. The regional variation of BP antigens reVeals some relation with the predilection of skin lesions in different areas. The regional variation of the target antigens may be a significant cause for disease specific distribution of skin lesions of autoimmune dermatoses.
