Abstract: Objective To investigate the levels of p27kip1 and ki-67 of psoriatic lesions in patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Methods The expression of p27kip1 and ki-67 in psoriatic lesions was determined by immunohistochemistry. Results The level of p27kip1 expression was significantly lower in the plaque-form lesions of the patients with psoriasis than that in the normal controls(P<0.05).The expression level of p27kip1 significantly decreased in the guttate lesions of the patients with psoriasis compared with the normal controls (P<0.001).Between the guttate and plaque-form lesions, there was no significant difference in the expression level of p27kip1 (P>0.05).The expression level of ki-67 was significantly higher in plaque-form lesions than that in the normal controls(P<0.01).The expression level of ki-67 significantly increased in guttate lesions compared with the normal controls(P<0.001).The expression level of ki-67 was significantly higher in guttate lesions than that of the plaque-form lesions (P<0.001).There was no correlation between the expression level of p27kip1 and ki-67 in psoriatic lesions (r=0.08).Conclusions The down-regulation of p27kip1 may be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis vulgaris. And the expression level of ki-67 may reflect the overproliferation of keratinocytes in psoriasis vulgaris.
