Abstract: Objective To explore the sleep quality in patients with psoriasis. Methods Twelve psoriatic patients and 19 normal controls were examined by means of polysomnography (PSG). Results Light sleep increased markedly, but medium and deep sleep decreased in psoriatic group. Hypopnea index, apneahypopnea index, lowest oxygen saturation in arterial blood,<90% oxygen desaturation index and SIT90 were all significantly higher in psoriatic group than those in the normal control group. The values of rMSASD were significantly lower in psoriatic group than those in the normal control group. Arrhythmia of non-rapid eye movement sleep was more significantly frequent in psoriatic group than that in the normal control group. Conclusions It is indicated that the sleep quality is decreased but levels of respiratory disturbance indices are increased in psoriatic patients. Improving sleep quality may be helpful for the recovery of psoriatic patients.
