Abstract:

【Abstract】 Objective To investigate expression and significance of p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR) in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Methods The expression of p75NTR was measured by in situ hybridization with paraffin sections of 28 skin samples consisted of 15 cases of SCC,and 13 cases of normal skin (NS). In this subject, brain tissue and neuroblastoma were chose as positive culture, and PBS was used instead of hybridization fluid as negative culture. Results Expression of p75NTR was lower in SCC than in NS, and the significant difference was existent between them (t=2.095, P<0.05). In the two groups of samples, the different distribution of p75NTR was distinct, that p75NTR was principally present in carcinoma cells based on SCC, in basal cells originated from NS, and in "normal" peri-SCC tissue with non- or micro-expression. Conclusions Low expression of p75NTR may played an important role to drive the appearance and exacerbation of SCC in a possible quantity-dependent manner, and the results could be represented as the outcomes of self-disintegration of p75NTR in different sections with different speed.
