Clinical and laboratory observation on effects of cyclopiroxolamine on dermatomycoses

Abstract: Result of the experiment on ten strains of comon pathogenic fungi inhibited by ciclopiroxolamine was reported. The AZIQ of the drug ranged from 1-16μg/ml. One hundyed and thirty-eight patients with dermatomyroses were treated with 1% ciclopiroxolamine (Batrafen) cream, the effects were as follows: 79% (109/138) cases were cured. The effects on Tinea corporis and Tinea cruris were better than those on Tinea manuum and pedis. Pruritus of the most patients disappeared one week after treatment. The lesions of the most patients suffering from Tinea corperis and Tinea cruris began to improve one week after treatment, the lesions of patients of Tinea manuum and pedis improved 2 to 3 weeks after treatment. 11 cases experienced a variety of side effects, including contact dermatitis, folliculitis and disseminated eczema. These side effects disappeared 1-5 weeks after with-drawal of the drug. There were no systemic side reactions. These patients were followed up for 2-4 weeks after stopping the therapy, 23% of them relapsed.
