Surgical treatment of lip tumors: 82 case reports

Abstract:

[Abstract] Objective To study 82 cases of lip tumors by dermatologic surgery,and analyze their generality and characters.Methods Exsect lip lesions,According to the site,size,shape and neighberous skin and mucosa status of defects, the appropriate surgeries were selected to repair lip tissue defects.Results The average age of the patients was 49.62.The numbers of man were about equal to those of women,most cases were Nevus (41.5%).The other cases were granuloma (15.9%), Squamous cell carcinomasbenign(14.6%),hemangiomas(11.0%),basal cell carcinoma(8.5%),actinic cheilitis(2.4%),Keratoacanthoma(2.4%),mucous cyst(2.4%)Bowen’s disease(1.2%).Operations of upper lip were 47cases(57.3%),35cases(42.7%) were on the lower lip.Cases of primary close occupied 62.2%.Cases applying complex colse were37.8%.Conclusion Skin cancer and benign tumors usually occur on the lips,so it is very important to master the techniques of plastic surgery to repair the defects of lips,besides removing tumors perfectly by the classical way of dermatologic surgery,Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
