Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical significance of p16 gene in condyloma acuminatum (CA) and the role in its canceration. Methods Both homologous deletion and mutation of p16 gene were tested in 33 CA samples and 7 samples of CA with canceration by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism(PCR-SSCP).Results The homologous deletion of p16 gene occurred in CA and CA with canceration. The deletion rate of p16 gene increased significantly in CA with canceration, and homologous deletion of p16 gene was found in the early stage of CA with canceration. There was no mutation of p16 gene in CA and its canceration. Conclusion The change of p16 gene is related to CA and its canceration.Detecting p16 gene in CA patients might be used to find high risk canceration group.
