Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between Mycoplasma genitalium(Mg) infection and non gonococcal urethritis(NGU).Methods The discharge from urethra or cervical canal was tested in 64 patients with NGU at our STD clinic.Mycoplasma genitalium was isolated using SP 4 modified medium. Results and Conclusion The results indicated that Mg was found in 9 of 64 cases(14.1%) (6 men and 3 women). Two cases were coinfected with Ureaplasma urealyticum, and one with C.trachomatis.The Mg isolates were confirmed by colony morphology, subcuture test, biochemical reactions, electronmicroscopic observation and polymerase chain reaction. The isolates were consistent with Mg reference strain,G-37.The correlation between Mg and NGU were preliminarily discussed.
