Abstract: Employing ABC immunoperoxidase technique, thirty-seven frozen sections of biopsy specimens from chronic eczema, psoriasis vulgaris, lichen planus, porokeratosis, seborrheic keratoses, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) were examined with a panel of anti-keratin monoclonal antibodies (AE1, AE2, AE3, AE14, AE21 and AE22). The results indicated that:① There was an abnormal reaction of AE1 and AE2 positive keratinocytes (KCs) in epidermal lesions of these dermatoses, but the reactive patterns with AE3, AE21 and AE22 on lesional KCs were similar to those of normal skin; ② The reactivity with AE14 on the basal cells in lichen planus weakened markedly, or even diminished; ③ The tumor cells of both BCC and SCC reacted with AE1, but AE14 reacted only with the tumor ceils on the periphery of the BCC nests, but did not react with those in SCC nests. These might be helpful for the further understanding of the pathogenesis of some skin diseases, and may be of significance for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
