Results of six-month treatment of paucibacillary leprosy patients with rifampicin and dapsone

Abstract: The effects of six months of treatment with rifampicin (RFP) and dapsone (DDS) recommended by WHO in 61 untreated paucibacillary leprosy patients are reported through 2 years follow-up. At the end of six months of treatment, 53 cases (86.9%) remained active with an inactivity index of 0.13, and at the time of 12 months of follow-up, 21 cases (34.3%) were active,with an inactivity index of 0.66.
