Observation on the culture of scales from 31 patients with pityriasis versicolor

Abstract: The present article deals with clxe results obtained from the culture of scales taken from 33 gatients with pityriasis versicolor.This was done at 37℃ is an incubator by using Sabousaud dextrose agar medium (S.D.A.)overlaid witli several drops of. sapeseed oil,Seven days after iacscbatioa the colonies of P.arbiculare were found growing on the media of 23 patients, which accouafied for 74.4%.When the colovies were transferred to serum culture media and kept at 37℃ for two days, spores appeared. However,no growth of spores was found when the colonies were transferred is Tween 81 ground site aiedium. CHO assimilation test and CHO fermentation test were negative.Under the electron microscope some nuclear and chromosome structures were seen. The culture of the scales taken from 10 normal persons and 10 patients with seborrfieic dermatitis was negative.
