Abstract: Skin mamifestztions in patients with visceral cancers followed up in our two teaching hospitals between 1960-1980 are reported.A. Specific skin lesions:1. nodular lesions, 10 cases;2. inflammatory infiltrations, 3 cases; 3. lymphaedema, 3 cases. B. Non-specific skin manifestations:1. generalized pruritus, 20 cases; 2. erythroderma, 5 cases; 3. erythema, 2 cases. 4. derm;,tomyositis, 12 cases; 5. acanthosis nigricans, 5 cases. Nodulzr lesions represent the most common form of specific skin lesions in patients with visceral cancers. Any skin nodule which is atypical for known dermatologic disorders should be suspected of being a metastaticlesion. Histologic examination may help the diagnosis. Sicin nodule may appear in leukemia, while peripheral blood picture is in remission. Generalized pruritus is the most common form of non-specific Ipsions. In elderly patienfs, generalized pruritus which is of unknown etiology and does not improve after prolonged treatment should be investigated for a hiddenmalignancy.
