Explanation and elaboration for “standardization of dermoscopic terminology and basic dermoscopic parameters to evaluate in general dermatology (non-neoplastic dermatoses): an expert consensus on behalf of the International Dermoscopy Society”

Abstract: 【Abstract】 In order to standardize the dermoscopic criteria for non-neoplastic dermatoses, experts from the International Dermoscopy Society have established “standardization of dermoscopic terminology and basic dermoscopic parameters to evaluate in general dermatology (non-neoplastic dermatoses): an expert consensus on behalf of the International Dermoscopy Society”. The consensus defined 5 standardized basic parameters and 31 subitems, including vessels (morphology and distribution), scales (color and distribution), follicular findings, “other structures” (color and morphology) and “specific clues”, and summarized their previous nomenclature, corresponding histological findings and the main dermatoses involved. The authors explain and elaborate this consensus in order to provide a reference for defining relevant Chinese dermoscopic terminology and basic parameters in the future, and to better standardize the application of dermoscopy in general dermatology.
