An analysis of 1616 cases of “black dot” tinea capitis and study of its pathogens in Queshan district of Henan Province

Abstract: In 1979,in Queshan Area of Henan Province,we investigated and analysed 1616 cases of blacktinea,which accounted for 49% of all cases of tinea capitis,Due to the complexicity of their clinical manifestations they were classified as black-dot,scaly.white-sheath scarred and mixed types.Direct microscopic examination of the hair showed that the arrangement of the pathogenic fungi varied with the morphology of the hair and the duration of the hair being infected.Cultures showed that Trichophytoa violaceum was the dominant pathogenic Fungus and that the morphology of the colony and the pigment of some variants of these fungi were also varied.
