Desmoplastic Malignant Melanoma

Abstract: A clinical,histologic and immunohistochemical review of 58 cases of desmoplastic malignant melanoma is reported.The lesion presented sarcoma-like cells with a rich collagen background. Neurotropism could be seen around the nerve,Hutchinson melanotic freckle or dysplastic nevi at theepidermis,and solar-damage in the dermis in some cases.S100 protein was strongly positive in most of thepatients.The prognosis of this disease was not better than that of usual malignant melanoma.
