Abstract: Objective To investigate the serum levels of several CC chemokines, including eotaxin, RANTES(regulated upon activation, normal T cell expressed and secreted),monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1)and macrophage inhibitory protein-1α(MIP-1α) in patients with bullous pemphigoid (BP).Methods Serum samples were collected from 28 patients with active BP and 30 healthy controls. ELISA was applied to measure the serum levels of the four chemokines. Results The serum levels of eotaxin and MCP-1 were significantly increased in patients with BP compared with those in the controls(487.45±116.32 vs 208.67±63.16 pg/mL,P<0.01;268.94±222.27 vs 158.29±42.17 pg/mL,P<0.05).No significant difference was observed in the levels of either of the other two chemokines between the patients and controls(P>0.05).Conclusions The serum levels of chemokines are abnormal in patients with BP,and eotaxin and MCP-1 may be involved in the pathogenesis of BP.
