Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of activated antigens CD69,CD38,and HLA-DR in keratinocytes(KCs) and mononuclear cells(MNC) of condyloma acuminatum(CA) lesions. Methods Biopsy specimens were obtained from 30 patients with primary CA,20 patients with recurrent CA and 15 normal human controls. The expression of CD69,CD38,and HLA-DR was measured using immunohistochemical technique. Results The positivity rates of CD69,CD38,and HLA-DR were 93.3%, 93.3% and 100% respectively in KCs of lesions from primary CA,90%,90% and 100% respectively in those from recurrent CA,0,66.7% and 76.7% respectively in MNC of lesions from primary CA,0,40% and 70% respectively in those from recurrent CA.None of the three antigens was expressed in the normal controls. The expression intensity of these three antigens was significantly higher in lesions from primary CA than in those from recurrent CA(all P<0.05).Conclusion The local cellular immunity is in a highly active status in CA patients, which may play a certain role in antiviral immunity.
