Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of Patched-1 and Gli-1 in psoriasis. Methods SP immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization technique were applied to study the expression of Patched-land Gli-1 in the epidermis of psoriatic and normal skin. Results The expression of both Patched-1 and Gli-1 was significantly higher (P<0.05,P<0.01,respectively)in psoriatic skin than that in normal skin. And they were predominantly distributed in the cytoplasm of epidermal cells, and also observed in follicles, infiltrated inflammatory cells and vascular endothelial cells. Conclusion The expression of Patched-I and Gli-1 is increased in psoriatic skin, which suggests that the Hedgehog signaling pathway may play an important role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
