Abstract: In this paper, eighty seven sera with positive serologic tests of syphilis (STS) and ninety three sera with negative STS were tested for CMV-IgM with antibody catch ELISA. 45 sera were found to be CMV-IgM positive with a positive rate of 52% in STS positive group, and 28 sera CMV-IgM positive with a positive rate of 30% in STS negative group (X2=8.7, P<0.01). The results show that there is a higher infection rate of CMV in patients with syphilis and sexual transmission may be an important mode of transmission for CMV.
