Abstract:

Abstract:Objective To summarize clinical experience of skin and soft- tissue defects reparation with hatchet flap in face and head after resection of cutaneous tumor. Methods 42 patents with skin and soft- tissue defects were admitted to our department from July 2008 to November 2009, the focus area ranged from 0.8cm×0.7cm to 5cm×6cm. The axe- shaped flap was formed beside defect and elevated from fascia layer, area was 1~1.5 times as large as the defect, the width of pedicle was 1/3~1/4 as long as the rotation side. Soft tissue flaps were elevated from superficial layer of SMAS in face and formed between epicranial aponeurosis and periosteum in head. Results 42 defects repaired by the dolabriform flaps survived with primary healing, and the cosmetic results were satisfactory. Conclusion The elevating of hatchet flap is easy and it is abundant in blood supply. It is a reliable method for repair of skin defects in face and head which can not be sutured directly.
