Clinical features of 30 cases of neurosyphilis

Abstract: Objective To assess the clinical features of neurosyphilis(NS).Methods A retro-spective study was performed on the age,gender,clinical manifestations,changes in cerebrospinal fluid,and neuroimaging findings of 30 patients diagnosed as NS in our hospital.Results The most common clinical type was meningovascular syphilis(37%),followed by tabes dorsalis(20%)and general paresis(20%). Patients were all males except one female,with a mean onset age of 50.8 years.The most common symptom was stroke(37%),and the most frequent signs included tendon hyporeflexia(30%),dementia(30%), abnormalities in deep sensation(30%).Conclusions Neurosyphilis has diverse clinical presentations,and clinicians should pay much attention to it.
