Clinical efficacy of moxifloxacin for the treatment of nongonococcal urethritis/cervicitis

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of moxifloxacin in the treatment of nongonococcal urethritis/cervicitis.Methods A total of 504 patients with nongonococcal urethritis/cervicitis due to Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) or/and Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) infection were enrolled.All patients were treated with oral moxifloxacin 400 rag daily for 12 days.Results The overall cure rate and response rate were 68.4% and 83.1%,respectively.The clearance rates of CT and UU were 84.8% and 87.2%,respectively.Moxifloxacin was well tolerated.The incidence of adverse events was 7.9%,and all adverse events were mild and reversible.Conclusion Moxifloxacin has high efficacy and safety in treating nongonococcal urethritis/cervicitis.
