Abstract: Objective To investigate the roles of CD147,cyclophilin A (CyPA) and cyclophilin B (CyPB) in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to semi-quantitatively measure the mRNA expression of CD147,CyPA and CyPB in peripheral blood T cells and neutrophils from 40 patients with psoriasis vulgaris,15 patients with psoriasis pustulosa and 20 normal controls. Results The mRNA expression levels of CD147,CyPA and CyPB in T cells from patients with psoriasis vulgaris were significantly higher than those from normal controls (1.231±0.128 vs 0.983±0.105,1.254±0.096 vs 1.084±0.070,1.667±0.166 vs 1.386±0.152,respectively,all P<0.01),but significantly lower than those from patients with psoriasis pustulosa (1.231±0.127 vs 1.418±0.117,1.254±0.095 vs 1.760±0.160,1.667±0.165 vs 1.959±0.156,respectively,all P<0.01),and they were positively correlated with the corresponding psoriasis area and severity indix (PASI) score (r=0.544,0.643,0.668 respectively, all P<0.01).The mRNA expression level of CD147 in neutrophils from patients with psoriasis vulgaris was significantly higher than that from normal controls (2.118±0.278 vs 1.393±0.144,P<0.01),but lower than that from patients with psoriasis pustulosa (2.118±0.278 vs 3.072±0.371,P<0.01),and it also positively correlated with the corresponding PASI score (r=0.618,P<0.01).There was no statistical difference between the mRNA expression levels of CyPA and CyPB in neutrophils from the patients with psoriasis vulgaris and those from the normal controls (1.127±0.086 vs 1.253±0.111,1.081±0.124 vs 1.067±0.134 respectively, both P>0.05) or those from the patients with psoriasis pustulosa (1.127±0.086 vs 1.116±0.075,1.081±0.124 vs 1.096±0.133 respectively, both P>0.05),and no correlation was found between them and the corresponding PAS1 score (r=0.290 and 0.144 respectively, both P>0.05).Conclusion CD147,CyPA and CyPB might play a role in the disease activity of and progress in psoriasis.
