Abstract: Objective To study the pathogenicity of wild strains of Sporothrix schenckii. Methods Suspensions of conidia of S.schenckii were prepared and inoculated into a lateral tail vein and peritoneum of mice. From the first to the tenth week, the mice were sacrificed every week in batches and the onset of infection was observed. Results The strains caused the infection of mice through different inoculation routes, both the pigmented strains and the non-pigmented strains showed the same pathoge nicity(P>0.05).The pathogenicity between the intraperitoneal group and lateral tail vein group was different (P<0.05).Conclusion Wild strains are pathogenic.Black strains and white strains reveal the same pathogenicity.Different infection routes cause different pathogenicity.
