Dermatomycosis Caused by Hendersonula toruloidea:First Case Report in China

Abstract: Objective To report a rare case of tinea capitis and tinea corporis caused by Hendersonula toruloidea. Methods The specimens (scales) were taken from the scalp, ear and right shoulder of a 63-year-old female patient. The fungus was identified according to direct microscopy, and the characteristic morphology of the colony in the culture. Results The pathogenic fungus in the case was identified as Hendersonula toruloidea. Conclusion Hendersonula toruloidea could be a pathogenic fungus of tinea capitis and tinea corporis, and it is dimorphic fungus.
