Abstract: Objective To investigate the inhibitory activity of Gacinia morella Desv(GMD) on HSV-2 and its clinical therapeutical effect on herpes genitalis.Methods One hundred and seven cases of herpes genitalis were allocated to one of the four treatment groups at random:① virazole intramuscular injection with topical GMD tincture,② virazole intramusculur injection with topical aciclovir cream,③ virazole intramuscular injection with topical 0.5% Ftibamzone liniment,and ④ virazole intramuscular injection with topical 1% methylene blue,respectively The treatment lasted for 7 days and follow-up for half a year In laboratory the inhibitory activity of GMD on HSV-2 was examined through the culture on Vero cells.Results Of the four groups,the clinical responses of the first two groups were notable with lower rate of recurrence and quick improvement.In vitro,when the concentration of GMD was 10^-10g/L,it showed a direct inhibitory effect on HSV-2.Conclusion The Chinese herbal medicine GMD has an inhibitory effect on HSV-2 in vitro,and has good therapeutic effect,it might be widely used in clinic.
