Abstract: Objective To compare the biological characteristics of Candida albicans strains isolated from Hefei,China(32 strains) and Niigata,Japan(36 strains). Methods The study included morphological (germ tubes, chlamydospores),physiological (assimilation, protease, phospholipase) and biotyping by a series of killer yeast method. Results There were no significant differences between two regions in all tests except the biotypes:8 out of 9 biotypes were different, only one biotype (37734003) was in common between the two regions. Conclusion Biotyping of C albicans seems to be a useful method for epidemiological investigation.
