Abstract: In order to study the status of existence of plasma fibronectin (PFN) and lesional soluble fibronectin (SFN) in patients with psoriasis, the levels of PFN and lesional SFN were detected by rockect electrophoresis and Western blot in 90 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 20 patients with plaque psoriasis respectively. The results showed that in comparison with the control group, the level of PFN in psoriasis group decreased significantly; the content of SFN in psoriatic plaque was significantly higher than that in the normal human skin. Scanning (scanning densitometer) results indicated that the enhanced degradation of PFN in psoriatic group might be the main reason of reduced level of PFN. The extent of PFN degradation was different in different stages of the disease in psoriatic group. The increase of lesional SFN might be caused by increased local fibronectin synthesis and effusing of PFN into the epidermis. Dynamic observation of PFN molecular degradation may be of important clinical significance in patients with psoriasis.
