Abstract: In order to identify the situation of HIV and HSV infection in STD patients,we detected HSV and HIV antibodies in serum samples collected from STD patients in an out-patietn department. The results showed that positive rates of serum antibodies to HSV1 and HSV2 were 59.1% and 25.0%, respectively. 25 N. gonorrhoeae strains were isolated from 88 clinical samples. There are certain correlations between gonococcal infection and positive HSV2 antibody (P<0.01). No HIV infection was detected in 88 clinical serum samples.
