Abstract: In this article, clinical and experimental studies of 35 patients with infantile candidiasis of head were carried out.The main features of the disease were: most lesions were in crust form and only two patients were in pustular form; topical use of antifungal drug was effective; after healing no scars were left.Hyphae and spores were found in the crust under TEM.Under SEM, the hairs were surrounded by hyphae and spores, while the hair shaft became thinned with cracks. In order to study the pathogenesis of the disease, an experimental infection with Candida albicans on healthy hairs of five different age groups of infants in vitro was done, we found that the cuticle and cortex of the hairs of newborn were destroyed in 16-20 week. The result suggests that hair shaft may be infected by Candida.
