Abstract: Immunohistochemical study was carried out for epidermal growth factor (EGF) in the epidermis from 24 patients with psoriasis and 10 normal controls with a new immunohistochemical techniquelabelled streptavidin biotin system. The results showed that the EGF positive staining cells were mainly localized in the stratum spinosum and stratum granulosum. The positive percentage of EGF expression in the patients is 75%.The percentage and the density of positive cells had no statistical difference either between the epidermis of the patients in stable stage and progressive stage or cases of first onset and relapsed ones (P>0.05).
