Abstract: This paper reports the use of high perfarmance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique in the detection of histamine content (HC) and histaminopexet raft (HR) of some plasma constituents in patients with acute urticaria (AU) and chronic urticaria (CU). The result showed that the HC of normal controls was 0.70±0.18ng/ml (n=22), the HR of γ-globulin per unit weight significantly higher than that of albumin. The HR of albnmin in plasma of unit volume was significantly higher than that of γ-globulin. The HR of plasma per ml in normal controls was about 93.68±5.43%. We found that the plasma HC in patients with AU and CU (in onset stage) was significantly higher (P<0.01) and the HR significantly lower (P<0.01) than those of normal controls. When the skin eruption of AU disappeared, the HC was stillalightly higher than that of normal, but the HR returned to normal. Both the plasma HC and HR in CU became normal after disappearance of the eruption.
