Abstract: Between June 1990 and June 1991,we examined 836 specimens from patients attending gynaecological out-patient clinic and sexually transmissible disease clinic of some hospitals in Guangdong. The specimens were inoculated in eycloheximide-treated MeGay cells at 37℃,5% CO2 for 48 hours and then the chlamydia trachomatis antigen ivcre detected by fluorescence labeled monoclonal antibodies(Micro Trak Syva). The positive rate far chlamydia trachomatis from female specimens(endocervical swabs) was 8.4%(53/631),the positive rate for male specimens(uragenital swabs) was 14.6%(30/205).We used a 24-well tissue culture plate for thr isolation of chlamydia trachomatis instead of flat-hottom vials containing a cover slip. The positive rate of immunafiuorescence staining is 2-3 times higher than that of iodine staining, the difference is very significant(P<0.005).
