Abstract: The sera of 11 patients with linear IgA bullous dermatosia, 21 patients with dermatitis herpetiformis, 7 patients with bullous pemphi-goid and 12 normal subjects were examined for IgA-anti-basement membrane zone (BMZ) antibodies (Ab) using both 1M NaCl split normal human skin (NHS) and untreated NHS as substrate in indirect immunofluore-seance. This data suggests that 1M NaCl split NHS may be a more sensitive substrate than untreated NHS for the detection of IgA-anti-BMZ Ab.
