Abstract: The sensitivity to antibiotics of the 472 strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolated from seven cities in different parts of this country was determined by disc method. The result indicated that the resistance rate of 467 strains to penicillin ranged from 26.1% to 82.4%.The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) to penicillin of 119 estrains of N.gonorrhoeae was determined by agar dilution test.It was found that the MICs of 55.50/a of strains varied from 0.5U/ml to 2U/ml.The MICys of 16.8% of strains was over 4U/ml.It showed that the resistant strains of N.gonorrhoeae isolated in this country during recent yeah are increasing. The order of drugs to which the strains of N.gonoruhoeae was sensitive is erytfirnmycin, amhicillin, tetracycline, cefazolin, carbeniciilin, medcrnycin, gentamycin, and ccpha.lothin.It suggests that these drugs may be used alone or in combination for the treatment of gonorrheae causedby thestrains resisitant to penicillin.
