Abstract: One hundred patients with various types of pemphigus were folluweel up using questionaires and examined at the out-patients department of this institute, and the course and outcome of these patients were analysed. The total mortality of varioas types of pemphigus was 13% during the period from 1964-1985, which was much lower than that in the past. This study indicated that most patients died from improper therapy, including irregular zdministration and withdrawal of drugs without the permission of physician. When the recurrence of the disease took place the dosage of prednisone had to be increased, this in turn led the patients to die of severe complications.
