Abstract: Three hundred and sixty-eight strains of staphylococcus aureus isolated from pyoderma patients in Beijing and Taizhou were phage-typed with 23 international standard phages, and their sensitivities to 15 antibiotics and other drugs were determined. The results showed that 242 strains could be typed(66%) as 93 different phage-patterns, most of them belonged to the mixed groups, in which Group I/other phage types(81, 94, 95, 96),were of highest incidence(51.6%).The bacteria developed resistance to many drugs, in which the most common ones were as follows; sulfadiazine(92.6%), penicillin G.(81.3%).sulfamthoxazole-f-TMP (Co-trimoxazole)(56.7%).tetracycline(55.3%) and streptomycin(31.3%).In this paper, the relation between phage-type and drug resistance as well as the relation between phage-type and pyoderma infection were analysed. According to the phage-typing, the autliors put forward the envisagement that multivalent vaccine may be useful for the treatment of chronic obstinate stapliylococca pyoderma.
