Clinical study on the treatment of acne vulgaris with oral administration of zinc sulfate

Abstract: 55 cases of acnel vulgaris were treated by oral administration of zinc sulfate. Among them 35 cases were only treated by zinc sulfate, 600 mg every day, and 20 cases were Combined with topical application of 2% salicylic acid spatomycia spirit. After.weeks the theraputic result was assessed. The effective rates of the two groups were 77.1% sad 100% respectively. Good sad excellent response of the two groups were 34.3% and 90% respectively, Before and after treatment the plasma zinc level was determinedain all patients. There was no statistically significant difference befween the acne vulgaris group and the healthy controls before treatment, but the plasma zinc level of the patients increased considerably after treatment.
