Abstract: Ischemic necrosis of bone(INB) has been the major orthopedic problems in patients with systemic lupus erythematosis(SLE).A study was made of 25 cases of SLE after a follow-up period of 1 to 8 years in an attempt to assess the incidence of INB and to find out the possible etiological factors.Roentgenographic findings showed that 10 patients(40%) had evidence of INB in the weight bearing joints. All 10 patients had hip jointinvolvement and in 7 it was bilateral,The knees were involved in 3 patients.A total of 20 bones with ischemic necrosis were observed.
