Abstract: Lei-Gong-Teng total glycosides(TG).an extract of Chinese medicinal lierb Lei-Gong-Teng was used to treat 200 cases of various dermatoses, including Sweet's syndrome, allergic angiitis, eczema, erythema multiforme, Behcet's disease, erythroderma and psoriatic arthritis etc. It has bees found that TG exerted an effective therapeutic action on these diseases, and the response was rather quick. It was found that TG had no side-effect of the steroids, and no rebound phenomenon after its dis-continuance. Therefore, TG can be used in patients who are steroid-dependent, steroid resistant or contra-indicated. TG is useful in immunologic and inflammatory diseases because of its potent immuno-suppressive action and anti-inflammatory action which were experimentally demonstrated. The side-effects of TG are less and milder than those of the crude drug of Lei-Gong-Teng,The commonest side-effects of TG are disturbances of digestive system, but these reactions would subside spontaneously.Leukopenia occurred in a few patients, but returned to normal soon after discontinuance of the drug. Caution should be paid to its use in child-bearing age patients and in pregnant women.
