Abstract: The study was based on the direct microscopic examination and culture of infected material collected from OPD of Dermatologpy,2 nd Hospital of Zhongshan Medical College from 1973 to 1980. The technical work was carried out in the Mycotic Laboratory of the Department of Dermatology. Expefimental result:among direct microscopic examination of infected materials of 12767 cusesi 5641 were positive(44.18%);among the cultures of 1200 cases, 1073 were positive (88.97%).It was shown that the commonest species of dermatophytes appeared in Guangzhou were Trichophytoa rubrum and. Trichophptoa gypseum, and Microsporum Canis was predomiaately the cause of tines capitis in the city.Besides, it was pointed out that in recent years the monilia were increasting more and more, and it might be closely related to the widespread use of antibiotics, corticosteroids and imaiuno-suppressants.
