Abstract: 【Abstract】 Acne inversa (AI)/hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin disease that centers on the hair follicular unit because of follicular occlusion. It mainly presents as painful, deep-seated, inflamed lesions since puberty, and most commonly occurs in the apocrine gland-bearing areas. The etiology and pathogenesis of AI/HS involve internal and external factors, such as genetic susceptibility, inflammation and immunity, microorganisms, obesity and smoking. Treatment of AI/HS is difficult, and the current aim of treatment is to control the frequency and duration of disease flares and improve the quality of life. Treatment protocols of AI/HS should be based on the disease severity grade. Medical treatments include antibiotics, retinoids, biologics, immunosuppressive agents, antiandrogen agents, and so on, and adjuvant treatments include surgery and laser/light therapies. This consensus aims to further standardize the diagnosis and treatment procedures of AI/HS in China, so as to facilitate its diagnosis and treatment.
