Abstract: The changes of the microcirculation of nailfold in 100 cases with scleroderma(including 74 systemic cases and 26 circumscribed cases) were analysed. The microcirculation of nailfold in these cases was found to be obviously abnormal. But abnormality was more severe in systemic scleroderma than in circumscribed scleroderma, the difference between them being statistically significant(P<0.01).The main manifestations of systemic sclcroderma are field obscurity, marked reduction in number of capillary loops, obvious dilation of micrdvasculature, extreme slow speed of the blood stream and aggregation-of intravascular blood cells. In addition, we found the degree of the abnormal microcirculation of nailfold in systemic scleroderma was proportional to the course and severity of the disease, there was also a correlation between the blood viscosity and the speed of the blood stream.
