Abstract: The effects of five chemical compounds on germ tube formation, chlamydospore formation and nucleic acid metabolism of Candida albicans were observed. The result showed that MgCl2 and CsCl2 could promote germ tube formation. Na2SeO3,CdI2 and CuCl2 inhibited germ tube formation as ketooonazole did. MgCl2 promoted chalmydospore formation, but CsCl2, CuCl2, Na2SeO3 and,CdI2 inhibited it. By the method of incorporation with 3H-TdR, we observed the effects of five chemical compounds on nucleic acid metabolism of Cantdida albicanc. The results showed that MgCl2 and CsCl2 promoted nucleic acid metabolism, CuCl2, Na2SeO3 and CdI2 inhibited the metabolism, the higher the concentration, the stronger the inhibition was, showing the same effect as ketoconazole.
