Abstract: The effects of various concentratins of 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 on Langerhans cells (LC9) and contact hypersensitivity (CHS) in mice were stydied. Our results showed that the dendrites of LC decreased in number, the cells becarne oval or round and the number of cells siginficantly reduced with increasing concentration of this active vitamin D3.When a therapeutie dose of 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 was applide,CHS was significantly suppressed. The hypersensitivity reaction to DNFB was also significantly irzhil3ited in the syngeneic recipients that had been recxived spleen cells from mice treated with 1,25(OH)2/sub> vitamin D3 (P<0.05).This indicates that the suppressor lymphocytes were induced. We also discussed the therapeutic mechanism of 1,25 (0H)2 vitamin D3 on psoriasis and suggested that there tray be a linkage between the changes in LC,and the effectiveness of 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D3 in the treatment of psorasts.
